Dune - Basic Rules: How to Play and Tips

In this week's Games Made Easy video you will learn how to play Dune by Gale Force 9 better, quickly and easily too.

Dune brings the book to life with each faction being clearly differentiated and true to its role in the story, which is really cool.

It is a game of superlatives. It’s epic, exhilarating and devious. It’s very tense from the first phase of the first turn and does not let go. The battles are brutal, and the speed at which fortunes change is awful. All this gets amplified as you play with more players. It’s not a game for the faint of heart but it’s brilliant for avid gamers.

Tabletop games are really fun, but learning the complicated directions and rules can be a challenge. Lavinia and Peter explain the rules quickly and easily while giving you all the tips you need to win faster.

I have been watching a number of how to play game videos over the last month. This was one of the better made in my opinion.

Great video. I played my first game with my three sons, teaching the game and learning it myself as I went. I jumped right in to the advanced rules too. I half expected it to be a shambles and for them to lose interest. I made a few mistakes with the rules and picked one of my own leaders as my traitor, which was hilarious. Despite all that the game was a massive hit and we had a ball with it. The dynamics of player interactions are fantastic and my boys, who are more video gamers than board gamers, had a lot of fun.

Thank you for the video! I love the presentation. One quick clarification, though. Allied players cannot share use of Ornithopters. Ornithopter use (moving 3 spaces instead of 1) is tied to the faction that occupies Arrakeen or Carthag.

so theres two spice symbols on arrakeen and carthag and one on tuek's sietch, what does that mean? my assumption was that if you occupy arrakeen/carthag you collect two spice per round from that area while you collect one per round if you're in tuek's

Great tutorial! I watched a couple of others and the missed out on the rules where the spice goes to the emperor or spice guild only if they bid or ship. Which seems to be a super important rule!

Thanks for this video, I’m using it to learn the game I’ve just purchased and can’t wait to play with friends just need to familiar with it first.
One question about the bidding phase, when you reveal the cards for bidding and then they’ve all been bid on or passed, do the cards get discarded, shuffled back into the deck or just left out? So if there are 4 cards and 2 get bid on, do the remaining 2 stay out or are they removed?
