NEW AND IMPROVED.... Just an update on recent events in the Crowhurst valley. We have been scanning certain sites for evidence of the 3-5,000 Norman casualites who would have been buried on or close by the battlefield ("in the bosom of the earth"). Many thanks for the volunteers who came out to peg the sites.

First of all congratulations to Nick Austin and all concerned for your diligence against the odds. I'm fascinated with Anglo-Saxon history and yes even though i'm not a militarily minded the battle abbey site is nonsense I've been there and there is no way in excess of 13000 people including cavalry can fight effectively therefore the site is elsewhere. From what I gather Harold in five days has his force facing William after a vicious battle with Hardrada and Tostig in Yorkshire and therefore fatigued. My issue is not only is Harold there quickly but he is right on top of Williams camp from the get go. It suggests William secured his position and waited this I have gleaned from the topography related to the battle from your films. The damning thing is Crowhurst is an excellent location for a battle of this magnitude and your evidence is compelling but Harold is seriously close to William prior to the battle would he really be THAT CLOSE?
