“No, ” they answered, “we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3“Into what, then, were you baptized?” Paul asked.

“The baptism of John, ” they replied.

4Paul explained: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”

5On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7There were about twelve men in all.

I don't care for Will but we don't need baptism to be saved but it is a outward expression of our faith. Faith alone saves us. The thief on the cross was never baptized.

I don't believe it's necessary for salvation, scripture is clear on it because of the theif on the cross. But it is a very good work as a sign to God that should be embraced. the word "CHURCH" is a poor translation. "gathering" or "assembly" is the proper translation. you do have a problem with the catholic and modern definition of CHURCH. the church is not a place, a denomination or a organization. the false idea that "the true mother church" is the roman catholic system of authorities. peter is not the authority. paul is the apostle to gentiles. the whole false system of priesthood in catholism is derived from a false belief of the change from judaisms structure to JESUS CHRIST and the melchizedek priesthood. "There is one mediator between God and man jesus christ"
