And for Nietzsche, Wagner's music was 'endless melody'' and was to be hated! After reading an essay by Johnathan R. Cohen, entitled 'Nietzsche's Musical Conception of Time' it helped me to understand what he meant by 'endless melody'. I think it was the libertto that Schopenhauer disliked in Wagner... Anyway I think both have given us interesting ideas about music.

Anybody know the source of the quote at the end with death being “the great opportunity to no longer be I” ?

Great line, but I can’t find it the specific location of it…

I see that Camus was familiar with these ideas, which he would further elaborate.

The human condition is well understood by Schopenhauer however his solution as the dissolving of ego is illusory and wishful thinking. No amount of transformation will dissolve your self boundaries: you are "condemned" to be you until the end of your life.
