I love the theory that when roger said he wished he lived during joyboys time he was talking about the current luffy. Since there was obviously a prophecy on laughtale since oden new about joyboys return. And the funniest one piece theory ive heard is that there is a big bronze luffy statue lol since luffy wished for it back in skypiea, would be hoilarious.

I have a feeling that Roger heard about joyboy's tale and that's the reason he want to go to the last island and wearing a straw hat. In the process he felt that joyboy wasn't in his time and he decided to inherit his straw hat to shanks, saying some kind of "there is no joyboy in my time, now you must find him"


Until shanks met luffy and gave him the straw hat, not only luffy said the same thing as his beloved captain, but he felt that luffy will carry joyboy's legacy.

Theory: joyboy is the one who created devil fruits, he didn’t eat the nika fruit, he created the power using his haki, his wills and dreams were so strong he got the power, after he lost the war, he used his haki to grant the dreams of everyone, the only drawback is that they couldn’t swim, because after joyboy couldn’t keep his promise, the fish man banned and cursed him by taking his ability to swim, and since devil fruits were created by him, the curse

Another possible acquaintance of Joyboy could have been the massive individual known as Oars. Oars was known as the island puller who stole entire islands, we know that Wano is actually a composite island. Onigashima the skull island off that floated inside the lake between the Wanokuni peak and the walls looks like the Oars from Thriller Bark, and Moria might have been mistaken about the body he found being the real Oars.

The most fascinating thing I find about the story of joy boy and the devils fruits attraction is that history is repeating itself. Luffy is no doubt joyboy reincarnate. All the devil fruits such Mr 2s fruit has helped him even thought this fruit belonged to that hag who helped orochi get into power. Momos mums devil fruit may have belonged to someone who knew joy boy and he/she may have told him of someone to come who will be able to bring peace to the world. Posideon and joy boy knew each other and again history repeats itself. So just a few instances of some devil fruits who have been intertwined with fate will definitely happen

I read somewhere an interesting theory which says that Imu and Joyboy were brothers, being the latter the right heir to the throne of the Ancient Kingdom, and Imu conspirated alongside the 20 kings to usurp that legacy.

I have a theory that Nika IS the Model: Nika fruit. Just the naming scheme makes it seem like fruits of this type were manufactured. "Model: etc..." Perhaps the Ancient Kingdom were the sole manufacturers of devil fruits and that's what caused the other kingdoms to rebell. Before I say the next part of my theory, I have to preface with another theory (oops lol, makes it a bit less believable basing a theory on another theory but it holds weight!), Nika is the SUN god, the gorrosei are named after planets. Many believe it to be referencing the Roman Pantheon, the mythological gods named after planetary bodies. But something to think about is our Solar System's planets revolve around the sun. I think it was an incredibly clever sleight of hand by Oda to misdirect our thinking. We know that Devil Fruits reincarnate themselves. Is it a stretch to say the Gorrosei's fruits were the "royal guard" of sorts and Nika was the "leader" of the ancient kingdom. The previous owners, or very plausibly, the CURRENT owners sought to take power and conspired against Nika to seize power. The way the Gorrosei talk about the Nika fruit makes it seem truly God-like in power. A very Oda thing to do would be to symbolize the downfall of humanity at our own hands. We kill our gods for power only to realize the true power of a God. The power of Joy. The power to spread infectious joy and unite humanity under one flag. THATS what scares the World Government. Unity.

I agree with every single one of these except the last one a bit. For one thing while it could be possible he was a giant, it could also be possible that because Joy Boy is "potentially" the God Nika, he could change his size ideally. Given that God's are powerful beings and such.

And considering that if Joy Boy wasn't the god Nika (theoretically), humans can live about a century, there's no telling that this guy wasn't fighting in his old age if he was human.
