Doctors, the rest of life is not like residency: it’s OK to say “I have no idea what’s going on” in the rest of life. You’re not going to get in trouble. I wish doctors were just more comfortable asking for help. you should ask for help when it comes to building wealth. Find someone you can trust who can help you sort it out. This hits hard. We're all in the age where we should be more financially wise as our incomes rise, except our incomes are completely divorced from our actual value unlike our peers. Was I investing in crypto this past year? No. I was on the wards every damn day and every third night for the pandemic like every other resident. Unless you're lucky enough to have a spouse that handles finances or family that will do it, I just don't know how we're supposed to learn about a lot of the stuff other people are doing with their money.

Not an MD student, but I over requested loans once for my PhD program, and they told me there's no way to cancel it, but once the loans were dispersed, I could return the money, but only by check. It was a pain in the ass, I'm not at all convinced they want you to reject their loan offers

As a physician that found him too late, I firmly believe that EVERY medical student should have to read and go thru The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. Every time a medical student calls into the show, I bring a little bit.

Yet teachers only get EECU which is only open during school hours (8-4, M-F). Who thought it was a good idea to have a bank for teachers that is closed on the weekends?!? (Yes, I know school ends at 3, but most teachers I know do an after school program to make more money. Even if they did leave at 3 to go to the bank, between 3 and 4 are the banks busiest times and you can expect to stand in a line for 40 minutes.)
