The thing I like the most about my autism is my unwavering laser-like focus.

What a great video! The word I would use in regards to number 1. is "authenticity". In a world full of fake people, it's refreshing to come across a real one. My brother and I are both neurodivergent, and both of us were heavily bullied by both adults and kids in our lives over behaviors we displayed that were considered "weird". I'm always telling him that its better to be real than full of shit.😎

I like that when I have a special interest I can focus so intensely on it that I become incredibly skilled at whatever it is. Usually, my special interests are artistic or crafty, knitting, jewelry making, wood carving, and the like.

I remember a close friend of mine once told me something along this line: "That's one of the things I appreciate about you -- you just SAY things, as they are."

The 2nd 3rd and 4th ones I can definitely relate to. Some of my special interests I use as escapism are music, video games, and Lego.

Two of my supposed weaknesses turned out to probably be my greatest strengths.

1. The fact that I barely understand social cues and NT people, I'm not really judgemental. This is one of the first things my wife and her friends noticed about me and it makes them feel very comfortable around me. I like understanding others when they are direct and people seem to pick up on that. I like learning in general so I'm always excited when they share their (NT) special interests like photography with me.

2. My lack of boundaries makes every conversation fairly deep. When I talk, I share a lot and am open about my past. People return the favour and form a deeper connection with me very quickly. For example, a friend who never talked about his father's death opened up to me after just one year while we were gaming together.

Weaknesses are relativ. It all depends on how you apply them to your daily life. I am so glad I finally got my diagnosis.

Things that I like about being autistic: Sensorial enhancements do come in handy when put to actually use(smell of fresh baked cookies coming from a block away, to the sound of familiar voices or movements coming from a distance). Knowing when my gut insticts are right and save me from trouble making me quite street save. Another positive is the chance to learn fast, working with my interests and getting more prosperity as a result leaving the behind haters in the dust.

I think that we sometimes get more enjoyment from certain sensory experiences than neurotypical people do. For example, I love to be outside when a storm is approaching and the wind is picking up and there's a tension in the air. Some people think my response to such weather is odd, but I think they're missing out, because they're not stopping to savor the experience.

I definitely think it's crucial to highlight some of the positives and some of our favourite things about being Autistic. I think for me, some of the things I love about Autism is that some of the most interesting people I've ever met are also Autistic, and I love it when Autistics just light up when talking about their special interests. They can make their special interest sound like the most exciting thing in the world, because to them, it is! I think a lot of Autistic people are also very loyal. Once you form that connection with them, they'll go above and beyond for you!
