Rome has seen pre - historic, Etruscan, Greek, Roman, barbarian and Italian people. It had been there, and will always be there, " eternally."

My city's (Lublin, eastern Poland) founding myth is that Julia, Cesar's sister founded the city.

It's called the Eternal City because the Romans thought Rome would never fall and that it would last forever which obviously didn't happen. Rome got sacked many times and most of the buildings from the times of the Roman Empire have been destroyed.

The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks. The Romans weren't very creative. They kinda copied a lot of our stuff. It's because the Romans greatly admired the Greeks. They heavily admired them. They looked up to them, and they wanted to be like them.
