OFF GRID WATER SYSTEM TOUR

We give you a complete tour of our off grid water system, in this episode of our Couple Builds Dream Home series. We have a 2500 gallon tank outside the feeds our 120V water pump in the crawl space. We used all PEX piping in the cabin and have an on-demand propane hot water heater.

We fill all our cisterns from rain water that comes off our roof. Works much easier than hauling it. Use water filters and uv light to purify it. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

In india we put water storage tank on a high platform & water comes to house by gravity, their is no need of pump again & again, hence we store the water at higher level.

Take some scrap lumber and build a couple of steps so and your SO can easily step into the crawl space and easily get back up.

FYI - Suggest you look at getting 1 or 2 of the Zero G hoses from Walmart. They are drinking water approved and you have no problem rolling and unrolling them. They are black in color and feel like a fabric versus vinyl. They are very lightweight too. We used to have a couple of those white hoses and we now use the Zero G in our 5th Wheel RV with no problem.

I am in my sixties and have drank out of a green water hose all my life and I am still living and with no cancer.

What are your winter temps like? I am in Alaska and I am trying to set up a different system in my larger house.

You might look at Zero-G water hoses. Much more flexible compared to your white and green hose and they are approved for drinking water.

collecting rain water is what we do up in Northern British Columbia. Run it past a water purifier (UV Light) and done. Don't drink it but good for all other water needs.
What is the cast iron train thing on the stove?
