Crosby having the best faceoff win percentage of his career (58.2%) in 23-24 is another element of his aging like fine wine.

Sid's prime has been his entire career basically.

Our generation's Gretzky. Not a Pens fan, but always loved Sid the Kid

The fact that you point out how solid Crosby is as a defensive player is something a lot of people seem to forget quite frequently. Crosby is defintely a playmaking two way forward, its simoly the fact his deflections, shot, and passing is so on point that we forget how solid he really is defensively

We are being treated with something special with how he is playing right now. I'm going to miss him on the ice.

I just feel so blessed as a Pens fan to have gotten to watch first-hand the greatest player in modern history

Man literally is the epitome of a two way playmaker and he has the grit of a grinder too. The complete package... definitely the smartest player since 99.

It's super corny to admit this but watching you talk about Sid has changed my entire mindset about hockey. I always felt like I had missed out during my prime playing years and not lived up to my full potential. But seeing him play at the world's highest level and remain one of the world's greatest players in his mid-30s made me realize there is no reason I can't keep trying to improve my own game. Sure, I'm not going to be scouted for the PWHL, I'm not going to play in college or on a national team. But I can still learn and grow as a player and I can still work my way up the ranks of beer league. I'm only 29 - I have 7 more years before I even catch up to Sid, and he's clearly got years left in his career as well. He's a huge inspiration to me on a much deeper level than he ever was when I was a kid. And I have you to thank for that understanding of his gameplay. Thank you.

Sids later years are a perfect example of how to change your game as you age to still excel. He’s shooting more, doesn’t rush the net as much and still using the lethal backhand. We were so lucky to have witnessed his career

6:04 is still one of the nastiest goals I've ever seen by anyone to this day. One handed backhander while pushing away multiple defenders like they're paper.

Geez!!!!

Thanks for reminding me of that beautiful one-handed goal from Crosby. Truly an incredible player and we Pens are lucky to have him

If you live in the Pittsburgh area, Mark Madden is a sports show host. He's outrageous, shock jock in his style. But he knows hockey as well as anyone in the area and he's always said Crosby is the ultimate grinder. He said he would never want to be known as that, but that's what he is. He's a down low guy who drives plays and possession by wearing down players and scores a ton of his goals cleaning up garbage in front of the net or with his ridiculous hand eye ability to tip pucks in. When he was younger, he could make more flashy plays but he seems to have known when to cut that game off or at least play that style a lot less. He's a ridiculous player, truly one of the all timers and we're lucky we got to see him here for so long.

How sid has far exceeded the extremely high expectations that were put on him is truly remarkable. One of the best to ever play the game.

All I know is we’re closer to the end than the beginning..being a pens fan and being blessed to watch him for damn near 20 years has been a blessing. I will weep like a school girl the day he decides to hang them up. 3 cups and a gold medal..can’t really ask for much more.

I always thought that by now Syd would be a latter day Brian Trottier or Steve Yserman, giving up offence to be a solid defensive forward in order to stay in the game. The fact he is doing that yet remains a better than point a game player is amazing.

Been following hockey through highlights for about 15 years, can't watch any games due to time constraints as I am UK based but it will be a fantastic but also sad day seeing number 87 lifted to the rafters. knowing we had the privilege to watch a great player like Crosby but also knowing that it will not be the same anymore without him. Until that day, let's all enjoy every moment that we have left with him on the ice :)
