Rio Gold Elite vs Premier Fly Lines

What's the difference between Rio Gold Elite and Premiere fly lines?

The Elite RIO Gold has a tapered design that gives incredible loop stability at distance and a front taper that delivers perfect presentation of flies between sizes #2 and #22. With a long head and back taper, this line is an excellent all-around fly line on rivers and lakes when long casts and complete line control are required.

Had two Elites; I prefer the Premier without hesitation. Shoots and floats better, longer between cleanings and that isn't a casual observation. The 9-y.o. #5 Gold Premier line I replaced was still a better line than the new Gold Elite which replaced it. Didn't take 15 minutes fresh out of the box to realize the difference.

Tried now the avid and the premier and now the elite. Honestly the woods lite is amazing! it’s worth any cent! It throws way more easy and absolutely exact at the place I want it to be. Can’t go back now anymore.

Hi!
Do you know if the Rio Premier Outbound Short have a non-stretch core? I saw that there is a elite version but that one is made for tropical conditions. I will fish in sweden mid winter so i think it will be problems with the coating on the tropical one, but i realy need the non-stretch core when fishing deep for big predators! I checked the Far Bank website but i can not find information about the core on the Premier Outbound Short.

Best Regards

Do you still need a tapered leader with the elite line

Rio should bin the idea of different tiers for the same line tapers and just throw all the bells and whistles at one single series. It royally sucks paying top dollar for a premium fly line knowing that it still isn't the best for your purpose. Raw material prices for fly lines are obviously negligible so the price of the Elite series just comes across as offensively expensive and greedy. It makes it seem like there are no attractive deals to be made with Rio. Either be ripped off or pay top dollar for the second best. If I can't afford or refuse to pay the exorbitant prices for Rio's Elite range, picking up a super cheap Maxcatch clone seems a lot more attractive all of a sudden. I know Rio hates to hear this and shame on you China, but we are talking a lot of money (too much) for something rather low tech plus the fact that people are more loyal to their family budget than any company, especially during these times.

Recently purchased the rio gold elite line and I've got to say in my 35 years of fly fishing it's the worst line I've ever used for coiling up in the water.. For a line that boasts being one of the best on the market I'd strongly disagree, I've had lines at a fraction of the price this cost and haven't had the problem of coiling like the way this does.. Poor show Rio.
