This was perfect. I'll get the wood cut this week before it gets cold.

who cuts firewood into quarters? wouldn't it be better to use a ripping chain for that anyway?

Just came here to find out standard firewood length in Australia. So 30-40cm? I'll be cutting my rounds to this size and then use a log splitter, never seen 1m lengths then quarter cut with a chainsaw, seems like a way for Stihl to make money from chainsaw being overused and needing parts/repairs etc?

Cut appropriate pieces of log and split along grain with block splitter

Only time I noodle rounds is a big crotch or narly wood before it goes thru the splitter. Straight grain is hand slit because it's faster than a hydraulic splitter.

Too elaborate altogether! What is the need in quartering logs, in order to put them up on a saw horse to be cut again. Cut the stuff into blocks and split with a maul. Another point: at 00:38, come up from underneath with a pushing chain - it's quicker and easier. I suspect that's what Brad would do in real life

Excellent video! Why so many crying grown men. He cut so it can stacked efficient and same length. Each piece of wood look the same. Good job I'm going to congratulate not chainsaw hate.

Stihls are good if your Husky is down! Love the firewood passion. Check out Rocky Mountain Firewood for all things firewood! Thanks everyone keep on firewoodin'

Well that was different.... Australian wood must just be impossible to split. In the US we cut our logs to stove length then split it either with a hydraulic ram or an 8 pound splitting Maul...

You can cut logs to 1m then split them with a wedge super easy then. Buck into small pieces

So it’s more how to make aesthetically pleasing firewood? I split with a wood splitter, takes much less time.

I'm stunned that Stihl would have produced this nonsense.

What!? Why would you rip cut the length of the log?

splitting the logs gives more surface area so they burn better anyway

Anyone praising this technique clearly has never cut their own wood

All nice and safe but winter will be over before you have filled your log shed.
