Why This Wood Splitting Style is Superior.

Показать описание
Splitting wood using the striking method with a wedge or axe blade secured on a block is a safer and more efficient alternative to traditional overhead chopping. By placing the wood on the block and striking it with a heavy hammer, you eliminate the risk of missing the blade during an overhead swing. This method is ideal for splitting both larger logs and smaller pieces, providing greater precision and reducing wasted effort. It's an effective way to quickly and safely produce firewood of the desired size.

"You can't miss this blade"
And you're severely underestimating my stupidity

I’ve had this same one for about 2 years now, works great for making kindling, it’s not for splitting logs

“You can’t miss”
Neither can a person who has tripped over and is falling onto it 😂

This method is extremely impractical for real use because we usually split way bigger logs, which would be harder to center on that blade. Plus, you basically use the easiest to chop wood possible, which you would normally use only when starting the fire. Usually, logs require some experience, because you need to know precisely where to hit.

Exactly why split wood using this method I’ve been splitting kindling for years works a treat with a really sharp axe . Yes I’ve still got 7 fingers.

Yeah, a blade facing you while you swing at it seems much safer.

I mean, this is awesome, very practical, very functional, has a lot of advantages.... buuuut... nothing beats the sheer power that emanates from a man splitting wood with an axe 🤠

"Oh no I tripped and now my skull is split"

The point of this comment was to point out the risk of having it upward, not saying axe is better, but I'd rather lose a leg by missing the log than risking that coming loose and flinging toward someone else or kids

I'm telling you this right now I've been splitting wood since I was 7 years old I would rather swing an ax than use that

Works really well on the fake logs in the background.

Made my own with an old axe head.
Weld axe to a plate and screw to a stump

Works great 👍🏻

Moral of the story: If you can't swing axe 🪓 over the wood 🪵, swing the wood 🪵 over the axe 🪓

Would be cool if they demostrate it with actually thick wood, that has knots in it
