LONG GONE GULCH (Full Pilot)

Rawhide and Snag aren't always the best sheriffs of the strange land known as "The Gulch", when crossing off their wanted poster list leads to the two in hot water, they must fight for what they care about most, while going up against a rogue's gallery of bizarre characters.

Created by Tara Billinger (Mickey Mouse shorts) & Zach Bellissimo (Victor & Valentino, Rick & Morty), this hand drawn, 2d animated, adventure, fantasy pilot is a result of a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016. 5 years in the making, the creators hired talented industry professionals and prolific freelancers to fulfill their vision. Along with well known voices you've probably heard before (E.G. Daily of Powerpuff Girls & Danny Cooksey of Xiaolin Showdown) and an insane surf rock soundtrack by Kreeps (Red Dead Redemption), the world of Long Gone Gulch is full of thrills, chills, laughs and many surprises.

This doesn't feel like a pilot it feels like a full fledged episode, the introduction of the characters feels so natural and the humour is so refreshing and so amazing. Also I can already feel the wants and needs from these characters and it makes me feel so giddy.

I love how consistent the animation in terms of what happens during the episode. Door gets kicked the first time, the second time it dies the print is still there. Snag gets a black eye from the mayor mace, the injuries don’t get magically fixed in another frame. The care and effort put in is amazing.

I love it!

For years, I've been asking for animation to dive into other genres when it comes to modern US animation. Seeing this take on the classic western themes, made me a fan back when the Kickstarter came out, and seeing that the pilot took me on an energetic, action-packed, western adventure, while also having such compelling characters in the process made me a super fan. I really hope this short gets all the attention and success that it deserves. Everyone on this project did an amazing job.

Also, Marigold is my favorite.

I liked the detail of snag having a cowlick on his head due to a small gap in-between the teeth of his comb, making only that one strand of hair stick up compared to the rest of his slicked hair.
