4:58 1) If TSH is too low = work on the brain (pituitary, thyroid - environmental toxin, toxicity)
2) If T4 is not converting into T3 = work on the liver or the gut (Keto, Fasting 36 Hour)
3) If your TSH, T4, and T3 is in balance but you still feel crummy = T3 is not getting into the cell (eat: good fats, eliminate: bad fats, sugar and carbohydrates toxins: heavy metals, pcb plastics, etc.)
4) High Reverse T3 and high Cortisol = work on adrenals (lower stress)

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos hypothyroidism after a severe reaction to a flu shot in minutes which took me from perfect health and weight to 3 specialists and physical therapy sessions off & on for years. After years of pain fatigue being overweight and just feeling bad all the time even with synthroid and all the doctors look at is thyroid bloodwork is fine so they do nothing but my symptoms are always bad. I have learned so much from your videos and am 100% determined to figure out how to get a better quality of life…thank you for helping me start this journey

One thing that is often missed ~ iodine~ Iodine is needed to make thyroid hormone the '4' and '3' in T4/T3 indicates 4/3 atoms of iodine- without enough you body cannot make T4 hormone in the first place.
Selenium is needed to convert T4 into T3 so this is also a crucial nutrient. I know in Australia our soils are deficient in both iodine and selenium so many are deficient despite a healthy diet.
Bromines- eg chlorine and fluoride block up receptors in thyroid for iodine (as chemically the structures are similar) so these can cause issues too.

Thanks so much for making this series of videos on thyroid levels! I’ve had the typical GP experience where my TSH level was ‘okay’ therefore no further tests were requested despite all my obvious symptoms. I paid privately and got T4, T3 and RT3 tests and analysed these myself to identify my issue. I found my T3 was low and my RT3 was very high! After eliminating all other causes and doing my research I think I got my thyroid issue from fasting too much - I didn’t realise I was consuming far too few calories and wasn’t fasting correctly. This wrecked my thyroid and stalled my metabolism - now my weight won’t budge no matter how hard I try. In your next video can you please discuss this as I think ‘caloric restriction’ is an unknown cause of thyroid problems and an inability to lose weight issues. Thank you - look forward to the next one.

Literally the best explanation I've seen about thyroid dysfunction. Thank you so much. Can you also share what tests we should do to understand T4, T3 and RT3 levels.

Just found this channel today. Where I live, as long as your TSH is within normal range on a blood test, the doctors and labs refuse to test any other possibilities for thyroid disease. This makes for a lot of frustrated middle aged women. Looking forward to educating myself after suffering since 2001 after my thyroid was hyperactive for a brief period. A naturopath told me I have hashimotos after reviewing my bloodwork taken earlier by my regular doctor. Due to the pandemic though I have no way to see this naturopath anymore as she is no longer working out of an office locally. Thank heavens for YouTube.

“Healing Thyroid, ” I like that comment
Notes: TSH test by doctor, thyroid hormones must go into cell, TSH looks at small piece of puzzle, other organs come into play 1) brain will secrete TSH and T4, T4 has to go into liver & gut for T3, cell must be receptive to receive; pituitary gland;
TSH low - brain
Liver if t4 not into t3
Thyroid- environment toxic if I’m balance
T3- liver & gut if not enough conversation
If numbers are fine, look at cell
Cel - look at fats, if bad fats, resist reception; need good fats for reception; outer membrane will inflame with high sugar diet.
Do Keto and Ket variations.
Get off breads, pasta, high sugars
Lots of toxics will block receptor site
Heal liver, gut and cell, then thyroid will work right.
Adrenals send reverse T3, when cortisone goes up.

Looking forward to the next part! The weight comes off very slowly. But I do feel better following the ketogenic diet and IF.

Dr Natasha McBride recommends bone broth to help heal gut lining. I also use collagen powder in my soups and stews for extra. I also like eating White Mountain Bulgarian yogurt as one cup has at least 90 billion CFU's.

Great Information ~ I’ve been on levothyroxine for years and I have a really hard time keeping weight off. I am moving and will be seeing a new endocrinologist so this information will be a huge help for me to understand.

Fun fact: the inventor of the TSH test said, in the very paper that introduced the test in the 1970s, that the TSH test should NOT be used diagnostically, but when someone has the symptoms of hypothyroidism, a trial of T3 should be used. However, within one year, the "standard of care" literally all over the world, became to test only the TSH and interpret it diagnostically, and to prescribe only T4, not T3. I read the actual paper some years ago, but unfortunately, I didn't print it out. Mysteriously when I search for it now, I haven't been able to find it. Searches only give references to when the test was created. They don't even say who created the test! If anyone can point me to where that paper is, I'd be so grateful.
