FOR ANYONE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT, you coat the board with a film of rosin, apply voltage to the board/circuit, the short will heat up and create a spot on the board . Cheap way of finding a short . Sometimes very useful! Ty for sharing!

I often use receipts from thermopaper to detect increasing temperature on the board

You can also use freeze spray, duster or even just isopropyl alcohol. Thermal cameras work too.

A method we had 30 years ago for repairing shorts...and Cooling spray had the same effect.

Heads up- replacing a shorted chip might not prevent the replacement from shorting, but it's worth a shot

I have serviced circuitry for 40-years, used a similar method from the bag of tricks by using freeze spray to lightly mist the board. A warm component is detected much more quickly than by the touch method. Also, IR viewing is useful, if available.

the heat from the over current shows its face because you put a coating over it so the heat will make it boil in a sense.
You could use an infrared sensor as well
