DIY Reptile Apartment Style Baby Rack Cages *16 Total*

Today I show you step by step on how I made this DIY reptile apartment style baby rack that fits 16 cages onto one bakers rack. With this I'm able to level up my breeding game and avoid further tail nipping that is common for bearded dragon babies.

Here is the shopping supplies you need to make at least a set of 4 Individual baby cages.

(1) 4' x 8' Sheet of 1/2" thick Sandy Plywood (Enough for 5 cages) $50, Home depot.
(1) 1/2" Thick, 2" x 4' Poplar wood, $5, Home Depot
(12) 1/4" Thick, 2" x 4' Poplar wood, $3 each, home depot ($36 total)
(1) 50' Of aluminum window screen, $25(enough for 16 cages and more) Home Depot
(1) 1 gallon Of Drylok, $40ish, Enough for 16 cages and more. Homedepot.
(1) 1 Gallon semi gloss black paint, Walamrt
Contact cement, $8, Home Depot

***Bottom Piece, Material: 1/2" Plywood***
11" Wide by 17" Long
***Back wall, Material: 1/2" Plywood***
11.5" Tall by 11" Wide
***Side Walls, Material: 1/2" Plywood ***
11.5" Tall by 16.5" Long

***Top Front Brace, Material: 1/2" Thick Poplar***
Cut to 10" long.

***Front Trimmings Sides, Material: 1/4" thick poplar***
Cut to 12" long Each.
***Front Trimmings Top & Bottom, Material: 1/4" thick poplar***
Cut to 8" Long

***Top Cage Trimmings Sides. Material: 1/4" thick poplar***
Cut to 17" long each
***Top Cage Trimmings front & Back. Material: 1/4" thick poplar***
Cut to 8" long each.

Great idea and came out great I’m definitely going to make something similar when I get my next eggs from my monitors. I’m actually building a custom enclosure for one of my adult monitors at the moment and it’s almost finished 4 more pieces of wood to cut them adding the door and then waterproofing it. And got all the supplies for about $200 so I’ll probably make another one and stack them. I’ll put up a video when it’s finished if you want to check it out

thank you for sharing. I've got a pair of rare anoles I'd like to breed and looking at the initial costs of a full rack had me overwhelmed a bit. This set up is much more reasonable and still looks great. Time to start planning :D

Love it, will be doing this for myself as I have a room full of bakers racks with plastic tubs lol I hate having to move stuff around to service my animals. As a woodworker, the next time you do this you should look into finish head screws for a more finished look! Just like $0.05 more per screw but they disappear as if they aren't even there!
