Distracted Driving or Brake Failure? Semi Crashes Onto Freeway! On the first day of Christmas this driver gave to me.....a Volvo through space E! On today's episode, Alex responds in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator, for a truly unique request. This driver somehow managed to crashed his Volvo through a fence in a parking lot and left it dangling over onto the free onramp.

We received this call from CHP to assist and right away Alex formulated his game plan. He was assisted with Mike in our heavy wrecker to "pull" the truck back, while Alex used the rotator to lift the front and push it away. If you just winched straight back, you would cause catastrophic damage to the tanks, oil pan, engine, barrier, etc. In other words, ALL BAD.

By doing a straight vertical lift on the front, this allowed Mike to safely pull the track back to a safe haven. Once level, the wheels were chocked and the rotator was put away so Cal Trans can start the process to repair the fence. All in all another fantastic job by the crew. WOW, that Volvo got fenced! Alex, your knowledge and experience, is what ultimately got that truck out. Your collaboration with the less experienced guy worked out, and hopefully you taught him something too. The logistics nightmare at the end, you gotta have so much patience for BS. Its like you said, communication is key, hope that guy learned that too.

Great work. I was shocked that you had to remind your other partner that he was in reverse instead of forward. Lol. I was thinking to myself that he was going to reverse the semi right back onto where you were retrieving it from. lol.

I like that when he put it in the parking spot he lowered the boom to move it back the final 2 feet rather than booming further out. Smart and faster.
