I'd buy the book, but I really like the way Richard talks, so I would really want the audible / book on tape version with Richard narrating.

Brilliant talk by Richard Campbell, my compliments. I would probably buy the book. If you write the book about the history of Microsoft since the late 90's, in an ideal world you should combine three strands; what actually happened against the background of both major persons (15-20?) within Microsoft in a certain period and their political interaction and also against the background of technological developments, that can not always be predicted in advance, who was with hindsight correct?, who was wrong? One possible drawback for you : I don't think you will sell more than 15-30.000 copies worldwide, maybe you can increase this number if you wait until Microsoft becomes very fashionable once again, what I see happening somewhere in the coming years. Other possibility is if you somehow manage to get a large amount of media attention like Walter Isaacson did with his books. I think however it's unlikely you will succeed in doing this now, other drawback in that case is that you need to dumb down the book a little bit.

For people who don't know: the all managed code os ms was working on had the code name Midori, there are some very interesting articles on the interwebs about the making of that. Sadly we will never see the code of the os and compiler that's been the result of that endeavor...

Does anyone know what happened to this book? was it abandoned in favour of making it a presentation?

Richard Sir, a movie about this would be PERFECT.
