my favorite days of school when I was a kid were the days the teacher wheeled in the TV and we watched educational programming on NET. I learned more on those days. When NET became PBS the kids programming was fantastic and engaging post classes. PBS exposed me to reality programming, dramas, symphonies. It really was incredible to be exposed to the arts while growing up.

@10:13 is from the 1987 premiere episode of Square One Television, a Children's Television Workshop show that introduced kids to the higher concepts of math. A song in that 1st episode was about infinity, and the chorus goes, "That's infinity! You can count forever, there'll always be one more. That's infinity! Count from dusk 'til dawn, you'll never reach infinity, you'll just go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on..."

Really cool seeing the evolution of the logo and the channel aesthetic. Thank you for sharing these!

I lived in South Carolina for a while, and they kept the "educational television" name. They always kinda downplayed the PBS affiliation until maybe the mid-80's. But they still call themselves South Carolina Educational Television to this day.

And does anyone know if that's Patti Deutsch doing the voiceover @ 8:07?

I greatly enjoy the more reent PBS brandings - the 1989-93 moving glass 3d effect, the kinder gentler 1993-1997 ones are nice, We are PBS series is great, the purple shining light complex visuals, and the Be More series.

I've always loved that weird synthy music of that 1970s PBS logo. I remember that logo as a child in the late 70s. I watched a lot of PBS.
