Hi DemonDriver AKA Christopher Here and I know your worried about the Selit Corp of Austria has changed thier manufacturing of depron to flooring purposes and that they olny sell it in HUGE rolls and is no longer made in flat sheets.
BUT DON'T PANIC!!! LOL
Midwest Makes "cellfoam"
and Electrifly makes "Pro-formance foam"
so watch this video and I hope I make you feel that all hope is not lost!
NEVER GIVE UP!

I am making my own "depron" cutting blue foam in sheets with hot wire over a table, separated 5 mm from the surface and it works great

We can still get it in the UK, the only difference is that they don't hand pick the flatter sheets for model makers. as a result they are often slightly curved. This isn't a problem as it is easy to flatten. Made loads of jets with curvy depron - NO PROBLEM!! great stuff!

Where you heard that? Here in Switzerland (neighbour from Austria and Germany) we have Depron in every Store, and many other brands. They advertise depron on google. I read the basic material is made in rolls before "extrude" this and make the "plates". But in forums they speak since 2010 they sell not so much because the other brands are cheaper. We have "Kapa Line", "XPS", "Selitac", "Normaplan" Some are made for insulating floors and some have lines or squares and are not flat like Depron. I dont like the lines, i have bought many different products to test. We have FoamBoard, i ordered a big amount but they are a lot heavier then advertised 5mm thick 1 square meter is 510gramms! But they write 120g!

I use a LOT of Foamular- Owens Corning pink fanfold foam. It too is hard to find so I bought 5 bales on Craigslist. I also use a lot of dollar store Adams foam. I can’t justify Depron’s cost for all the impulsive building I do. I buy hot glue by the case on eBay too.

Funny as there is pallets full of depron in the UK in every b&q wickes etc it's just black .... We use it for laminate flooring padding

The Build RC has it; but you have to ask. They use it for covering shipping containers. It's premium quality, and cheap! They can supply any size too. Theirs is 5mm.

Sure, there are other foams. I already build Adams foam board planes, and EPP planes. But nothing can replace Depron. In 6mm Its stiffness, and light weight cannot be matched. Im still flying a Rc powers Mig29 I made of depron. I always worry about crashing it. Depron is brittle and does not crash well.

You can’t get depron anywhere in the USA now sadly

OK I don't know squat about foams and the different types of foams. For example some are thin and flexible and can be used to cover curved surfaces while others are stiff/ rigid and would be great for support pieces etc. I'm a beginner RC plane builder and want to start using foam but don't have a lot of $$$ to waste. I need a foam beginners course on how to identify the differences in foam and what the good types are for RC plane building. Hoping someone can direct me or explain the differences. Much appreciated.

Alternatives are available if you get creative.

Is the Lowes flat fold foam heavy compared to depron or the hobby store foam?

I can't believe it's not manufactured anywhere, what about FMCG packaging - food packaging companies by the raw material for moulding into trays and containers?

Wanted to make a 747-800 would you be willing to shoot me an email with a short list of what I'd need to build the fuselage and wings? Really want to build one so any help is greatly appreciated. I am anxiously waiting your 747 build.
