Adjusting the brakes on your Ford Tractor- Models 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000

All models listed are pretty much done the same. This tractor in particular is a 1969 Ford 2000. Whenever the foot pedals travel too far or if the pedals don't travel equally as far, it's time to adjust your brakes. These Ford tractors use drum brakes which can be adjusted with a jack and a flat head screwdriver.

I think another way of saying it is to go towards the axle to loosen the brakes and away to tighten them up.

In reference to the topic: Out of the Ford tractors during this era, only 2000 and 3000 have drum brakes. 4000 and 5000 have modern oil bathed tractor brakes inside the middle axle housing, and re: those this video is not relevant.

Fantastic! Glad I found this. I was not having luck adjusting because I was trying to move the adjuster up and down not toward the rear of the tractor. Thanks.

does the the adjustment star wheel go in the same direction to tighten on the other side or is it the oppersite ie: left & right hand threads?

Just wondering why the need to jack the tractor up to adjust the brakes? I'm not disputing the point, I just don't understand how that would affect the brake adjustment, but hey, if I knew much about tractor maintenance, I wouldn't be watching this video in the first place.
