This was initially my favourite song, and we all had to learn that bass line, and Steve has cool riffs too. Don’t neglect Geoff’s keys with those tasty arpeggios. In the video it’s Geoff doing the synth vocals. It’s clever to use “Yes” as the hook. If you’re looking for votes, mine is to do 90125 before going back, because it completes the transition to the modern era for the band. That flow is important.

Tempus Fugit is the hit of the album and the more popular song of this lineup of Yes, This, Machine Messiah and Into The Lens are the best songs on here

Best song on the album for me, so much energy, the band is firing on all pistons, a total rush. I knew you'd love the bass playing, such a standout here. Howe's guitar runs are excellent as are the keyboards. And that flurry of vocals propels the song, especially with the repeated use of "Yes", it should have been the band's theme song. But of course when Anderson returned to the fold he refused to play any songs from this album in concert.
I'd love to see you react to their first 2 albums. Another that I like a lot is the "Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe" album which technically isn't a Yes album but sounds a lot more like classic Yes than their next 2 albums do.

It took Yes 12 years and a new singer to finally come up with a theme song. Yes yes...

If you want to explore the early Yes catalogue, have a listen to 'Time and a Word' this album is the template for all that came after, some beautiful string arrangements on there and the BASS OMG!

This song is almost like a wink and a nod to the Fragile era, which seems appropriate because this really represented the end of their golden age, I think they thought this might be the end. Trevor really was not comfortable with touring and he had a very hard time singing the Anderson material. So once again, they brought the curtain down.

I would recommend listening to "Tormato" next. It is an under loved, under appreciated Yes album that to me still sounds like classic Yes. This was Jon Anderson's last studio album with Yes just prior to "Drama" It came out in 1978, just after "Going For The One". The band were still at the top of their game. Stand out tracks are "Future Times/Rejoice", "Don't Kill The Whale", "Arriving UFO" and "On The Silent Wings Of Freedom"; Chris' bass work is just amazing on this track. You may have heard some negative things about "Tormato" but if you love Yes music you will not be disappointed. Also some of their later albums are pretty good too, mid to late '90's--"Keys To Ascension", "Keys To Ascension 2", "The Ladder", and "Magnification".

When Jon Anderson returned to the band he refused to sing anything from Drama. When Squire would do his Fish showcase (Later called Whitefish to include Alan). They would explode into an instrumental section of Tempus Fugit.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this song... A real barn-burner to end the album. Massively underrated and it truly belongs on the shelf of Yes' great albums. Thanks for going through this album and your honest reactions, Justin! Cheers!

Don't know why exactly -- because it's not overt -- but I've always felt like this song was a declaration to the fans who might have worried that without Jon and Rick the band wouldn't "really" be Yes. Oh, hell yes, we're Yes.

Tell me this wasn't a fantastic album. Never understood why it wasn't more successful than it was. I'd take another album with the Drama lineup over a 90125 any day. (Though, I don't dislike 90125 either.)

I always find it impressive when listening to how a lot of Chris's vocals quite often bounce against the bass parts. In an interview, he admitted that it could lead into some tricky situations. It will be great to see some reactions to the first two albums, and I'd also love to see you react to the rest of the 90125 album! either way, it's a win-win situation...

I always looked at Drama as, sort of, Chris Squire’s 2nd solo album. He is, after all, the unmitigated star of this album. He shines in every way. An absolutely fabulous bass player, singer and songwriter. God I love you Chris. I miss you dearly.

The bass the bass THE BASS, and the others are just running to keep up, they all nail this one down HARD.

THAT BASS IS THE BOMB!!! Probably Squire's best bass moment! The tone and effects using a custom made Alvarez bass guitar is what makes the bass sound on this song so killer!

(Big Smile) Knew you'd like Tempus Fugit, Justin! *Chris Squire!* By the way, the next Chris Squire Masterpiece you need to review has got to be *On The Silent Wings Of Freedom* which was the one stand-out "Squire song" on YES' Tormato album. That song alone was reason enough to buy the album. One of his absolute best inspirations on the bass, ever. You'll absolutely love it.

With OTSWOF, you'll have exposed yourself to most of Chris' best work, with only a couple more left that you haven't reviewed. I think maybe his (& YES') best composition on the 1st two albums was *Sweet Dreams* which gave a strong hint at the greatness that was to come on their next album, The Yes Album.

Count me as one who'd like to see you review their first 2 albums _and_ Tormato before revisiting the Trevor Rabin YES of later years. (When you do get to the TR YES era, I highly recommend *I'm Running* which is a compositional masterpiece that reminds of the Classic YES Era, including one of Chris Squire's best driving riffs of all time!) Great work, Justin!
