This is a video that I made last year. I'm working on a longer, more in-depth video that will be shared soon! Any cones from trees in the Pinus genus will work. Many spruces and firs also have edible cones that work great. Cones from some cedar and juniper will work, but not every species is safe to eat. Research your local species to confirm edibility. Yew is a deadly toxic conifer. Do not eat yew.

We do something similar in the Czech Republic, in the spring we pick the young ends of the branches from the spruce. The production of syrup is otherwise exactly the same

Do you wash them? Or dehydrate them before putting them into the jar?
Thank you so much for sharing this.
