The Sisyphus thought experiments are fantastic. I remember when I first heard the idea that you could develop a relationship with the boulder and create an entire life between you and it, à la Wilson. Žižek also reminds me of Lacanian philosophy; if misery becomes your baseline, are you truly miserable? Now we're adding in the idea of drugs and their philosophical ramifications. I love it. Thank you for this great and interesting topic.

Haven't listenened to more than a few words of this yet, but I just wanted to say how nice it is to come to a channel and very rearely get insulted by advertising. I don't know if this is a deliberate policy of this cannel, or whether YouTube imposed it, but it's A Good Thing, thank you!!

Isn't that the whole point of the book by Camus? To embrace the absurd?

There is another point to be made. No hill is endless. Given enough time, and through technological advancement, Sisyphus can succeed! Go Sisyphus! Go!

Is finding joy in the perfunctory task like Huxley's soma pill? The drugged today are using substances to make joy in having to work 3 jobs to survive? We have the religious version of work in which we do things as if we are doing them for God, and the socialist version in which we do things for the common good. Are you trying to combine these two--where meaning emerges from a form of work?
