Encrypting Database Data - It might save you!

After reading about Fidelity Investments losing 77,000 customer records I thought I would put together a quick beginners tutorial on encrypting data (in SQL Server) and to help new developers.

I take you through a quick tutorial on encrypting sensitive text AND images (such as a customer ID or scan of a customer document) and how we can legitimately decrypt the data to maintain an operational system.

I also demonstrate how this process may help you avoid a lawsuit by keeping the database data safe if the database is restored (stolen) to a new server!

I also show you how you CAN safely move the database to a new server and decipher the encrypted information to have a fully operational system whilst still protecting it from hackers.
