GIS Day 2021 - Bringing Indoor Maps to Public Safety

The use of GIS data and emerging technologies makes it possible for PSAPS to receive 9-1-1 calls with indoor context details. Indoor Maps improve situational awareness and reduce response times by proving emergency responders more detailed information about the facilities they are responding to. Therefore, there is value in 9-1-1 entities gathering indoor maps for complex venues (such as school buildings) and provisioning into 9-1-1 PSAP mapping applications as soon as possible.
