When they put Carrie Ann Moss in all the promo stuff and then killed off her character in the opening scene, I was out. That woman was born to play a Jedi.

It was by far the worst show for Star Wars. Episode 3 was the hammer winding up and by Episode 4 the hammer started to nail into the coffin. The Press Junkets were abysmal and they talked about the fans in a negative way. People were fed up. The ending was terrible and the only character worth sticking around was killed off in the finale. Definitely not worth a second season ever.

I was just looking at the Luminate report - they lost almost 1m viewers between episode 1 and 2, which dropped the same night

It used to be that video game stories were widely considered jokes. Roger Ebert had some famous words about video games not being art because of the writing. Now the writing for video games is far better than that of most franchise shows. With these micro-seasons, there's very little time for characters to breathe or grow and thus the writing has to be excellent to succeed. Also, why's it taking so many years for Disney to understand that fans just don't want Star Wars deconstructed?

I think the story about the Acolyte is also a commentary on how Disney Plus shows have been dropping off in viewership overtime due to many factors (including quality, which effects the good shows like Skeleton Crew which had worse viewership despite being really good), creating a reality where a show can be the second most popular show and a failure, but also be cancelled while a Percy Jackson show is number one over Marvel and Star Wars

You guys forgot to mention one of the biggest reasons why it was cancelled: the budget. They spent over $230 million for an 8 episode show that only had a million views on the finale. 😂

The Knights of the Old Republic games, especially 2, did a great job of dealing with Jedi and Sith philosophy and what regular people think of them.

They showed that a lot of the people who are affected by the wars between the Jedi and Sith don't understand what's going on. They're just too busy trying to survive having their planets conquered. They don't care about the Force or the philosophical differences between the Jedi and Sith. They just want to live their lives. And the Sith can gain support by taking advantage of people's desires to be left alone. The Sith will operate like the mafia, extorting protection money from entire planets to fund their wars against the Jedi.

And they showed philosophical differences within the Sith. Some Sith Lords give into anger and hatred too much, and they would just obliterate any planet that tries to resist them. But there are cold calculating Sith Lords who will make sure that factories and infrastructure is left intact so they can use them to support their armies. And they would use psychological warfare to get their enemies to surrender so they don't waste troops and resources trying to conquer planets.

I did love the fight scenes. I could really get behind more Jedi hand to hand combat before drawing sabers.

"Shows used to be made with an audience in mind" - It's the same unfortunate story in gaming as well now. The big name development companies aim for income and other agendas, whilst the indie devs make the games for the players. This is why indies games are at a high, while "AAA"-game development studios are shutting down left and right in widespread panic. The viewers decide, the players decide.
