Totally agree with Alex. The family neglected her from the beginning and she was getting used to living on her own. And when she is living her life without their support independently, they start showing affection to a late teen, while she wanted that love and affection as a kid. Complete fault is with the parents

Yeah I always liked Alex. She was neglected and kind of bullied by everyone around her, then when Gloria helped her build confidence it took her family years to accept that and when she finally is ready to be on her own even though she's been doing it they don't want her to go. It's kind of gross.

A lot of ppl keep mentioning about her being neglected. I think the reason is because Hayley and Luke were such lost causes. They were stupid and couldn't do the simplest things without help. So Claire and Phil had to put all their effort into those 2 kids. Alex has always been super smart & independent, hence why the parents didn't need to focus on her too much. This actually happens a lot to families where one child needs more help & attention than the other because of differences e.g sickness, mental health issues, disabilities etc. Then the other child who receives less attention ends up being the "cold and distant" one.

I'm popular opinion but I'm not a huge fan of Alex's character. I really wanna like a character because I very much typically like the more smart character to hold the family together. But I feel like Her constant sarcasm( Don't get me wrong loves sarcastic characters but most of the time her is in poor taste) and the way she treats her parents siblings at times is very mean and unnecessary. A lot of people like to point out the neglect from her parents but no one points out the fact that anytime they did in fact try to help her she'd immediately get hissy and catches an attitude. In my opinion it's probably that the reason why they fail to help her and let her do her own thing at times out of exhaustion of that always being the result.

And unlike her siblings there's just no growth for the character even when she's an adult. Sure Hayley and Luke have their faults but each of them grow into their own and become better people we don't see that without Alex she stays the same "not all somewhat braddy child" and it gets tiresome Especially if she becomes an adult And gets out of the teenage/middle kid phase that I can excuse it a bit.

My straw with this character is when she forced Hailey to confess that she was pregnant just because it was affecting her to keep the secret. Lovely actress though wish we saw her and more things

I can't imagine being forced to live in the dorms. It's not required in my (asian) country and I value privacy way too much. I need to be alone to recharge. I would have been so stressed.
