Alabama Coach Kalen DeBoer Postgame Press Conference: Oklahoma Loss

The Crimson Tide head coach meets with the media after losing to Oklahoma on the road. Alabama lost 24-3, and DeBoer talked about what went wrong for his team.

It’s really sad to have this level of talent and see them not put in a position to be at least competitive. That is solely on the coaches! This is a learning experience for these coaches who don’t have the requisite experience coaching in SEC. They need grace and mercy from us BAMA fans but it’s very hard to give it out based on the product seen on the field tonight against OU.

Milroe is one of the best running backs in college football but not in the top 25 QB's; that's a problem since he's a QB...Deboer being outcoached is becoming a theme; again, a problem, since he's a head coach...Coach Saban era has NEVER seemed so far away.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for the performance or lack thereof tonight. I hate to say it but this coaching staff is way too predictable. All you have to do to beat BAMA is play 8 or 9 in the box and dare BAMA to pass it long. Our D is too conservative and not aggressive enough playing more up on the line to stop the run. On 3rd downs we play passive. It’s the same old routine and the smart defensive coaches within the SEC has figured us out. It’s really that simple. We have to throw the ball more 10-15 yard routes especially in middle otherwise we will lose to AU.

So glad the media is there to ask the tough questions. What is his threshold for benching a QB? I totally get trying to stick with your starter, but that is a coaching fail to let his QB continue. Would've Simpson played better? Probably not, but at least you're trying. He certainly couldn't do worse. DeBoar literally watched his team lose miserably and wasn't willing to try something.

Piss poor embarrassing performance! These passive coaches made zero adjustments to stop the run and that’s inexcusable! The offensive line needs to hit the portal and it needs to be rebuilt from the ground up!
In my 59 years, I’ve never seen a Bama team get pushed around and beat down up front like tonight. There’s no excuse in this kind of performance and Deboer needs to be put on notice!
