The best version of this beautiful aria that I know of. I love the first note, held effortlessly for so long, the grace note at 1:54, and the high note at 2:06. What a voice!. Thank you KB!

삼십 몇년전 우연히 일본에서 TV에서 흘러나오는 아름다운 광고 노래 소리에 홀려 일본에서 어렵게 표를 구해 폭우가 쏟아지는 빗속을 뚫고 그녀의 콘써트에 갔지만 흑인영가 몇곡만 듣고 앵콜쏭 외치는데도 쌩하니 들어가던 그녀 모습에 실망 한적 있었다. 그러나 이 곡만큼은 그녀가 최고라는 생각이 든다.

Egal, nein, nicht wirklich, wenn Menschen vielleicht verletzt wurden, kann es keinem egal sein, die Person dahinter können, dürfen, sollen wir vielleicht auch gar nicht sehen. Knapp
Zwanzig Jahre aufreibende Arbeit haben schon andere Menschen aufgerieben, verbrannt. Wenn ich diese wundervollen Töne höre, die in Zuhörern Gefühle berühren, nein, in ihnen diese entstehen lassen, erfüllt mich Trauer über die (vielleicht) verlorengegangenen Chancen, oder auch egoistisch gedacht verpassten Genussmomente für uns Hörer.
Ein Monument, zumindest für den aufgeschlossenen Hörer, ja, auch Zuseher, war, ist Kathleen Battle auf jeden Fall, in Dankbarkeit, Chapeau!
