I’m in the middle of your vid so I apologize if I say something you mention. I bought my mountain wrench set from a cornwell rep as a cheaper alternative to their cornwell branded ones. Broke one and by this time years had past, at a new job with a different cornwell rep that told me I was pretty much SOL as he doesn’t carry them, cornwell doesn’t warranty them, etc. so I had to hunt down the cornwell rep that sold me them to get them swapped out. Now I don’t use them as a go to anymore as I’m concerned with breaking one and having to hunt down the rep again

Other companies that rebrand these are Matco, cornwell, and sk

as of 1/9/23 the Napa set is $411 the Icon set is $224 and so far as i know the icon set is no questions asked replacement.

Out of all the Napas around me, and tjere is quite a few, none of them carry Carlyle tools, you have to order them. Honestly, I can order Proto for the same price or slighty more expensive. So...

They Carlyle, Mountain, and Gearwrench units look pretty much the same but NAPA has their Carlyle units built with better steel. I didn’t believe that at first until a NAPA tool rep tested all three brand new out of the box. Both the Gearwrench and Mountain wrenches busted from the test but the Carlyle was no worse for wear, The Carlyle wrenches are higher priced but there’s a legitimate reason for that.

Ah man the good old days. That wrench set now sells for $476 at napa if it's even in stock

That's why I bought the icon set from harbor freight.
No question about the lifetime warranty there.
Plus I was able to save 25 percent yesterday so I only paid 182 including tax.

IMHO I would have liked to see these in a six point version.

I’ve got an independent dealer that said he’ll warranty those Mountain for my buddy who got them. He’s been afraid to use them because he got them off Amazon and wot be able to warranty them. That dealer also said he’ll warranty my Grey Pneumatic sockets, another brand I like but can be tough to warranty.
On another note, I wish I could find a deal on those Carlyles that all y’all seem to find. I can’t find those for less than $325 or so. Have you had luck with Napa deals the past year or so? It seems like their specials are mostly trash. I like their tools, but a lot of them are damn near truck prices.

Icon has this exact same set. $120 with coupon, lifetime warranty.Think I’m gonna pick up a set. I like the GearWrench you linked but like Tekton they are flat faced. Appreciate the video!

Good news. Harbor freight just released these under the Icon brand. Not in all stores just yet. You can see a review of them on CatusMaxus’s channel. I wish a waited a month to buy them as I just bought the mountain set a few weeks ago. Might return them and go with icon

Great wrenches for the Honda Toyota etc

The wrenches look great. But when you have to buy them the price is just to much for a DIYer for sure. The guarantee usually is no guarantee, you break it you rebuy it. Just whoever wants to do the right thing and take care of a customer. Good information on the wrenches.

I recall they were $115.99 at Napa for the Q1 real deals. They sold out in most places and I picked up this set 👍🏼

I also bought a used set of Mountain wrenches off of eBay from the same "Kooky" seller out of Florida for $45. I didn't realize how the warranty actually worked or that there was almost no info about Mountain online either. I thought maybe a few wrenches were either gonna be locked up or the flex head would be a little loose. Three of the wrench ends had broken pins and the ears were Fubar. Two of the wrenches had loose flex heads, but remarkably all the ratchet heads still worked smooth. Being a 5 percenter, I contacted the seller and he sent me out another set that were near mint and told just to keep the old ones. I bought the Mountain wrench holder brand new on eBay for $8. If I had to buy them new I would get the Carlyle on sale.

You have no idea how much you're video has helped me out. I used the mountain set of wrenches at one of my friends shop and he couldn't remember where he got them from but I loved the tool. I've been researching mountain all over but I couldn't find anything. I'm so glad you have this video because it has cleared things up so much for me. 👍👍👍

I buy them through my snap on dealer. I could have bought them $50 cheaper on amazon, but my warranty process involves me walking on his truck and just swapping it out 😂
