Good guide, but you can do it with fewer steps and higher quality now with iMovie 10.1.6 running on macOS Sierra 10.12.5. First, iMovie has removed the Export submenu and consolidated its functionality into the Share submenu, so you now click File>Share>File... Choose "audio only" and AIFF for Mac or WAV for Windows. These are uncompressed formats that will open directly into Audacity. No need to mess with iTunes, and don't convert your audio to AAC or MP3. These are compressed formats, which degrade the quality each subsequent time you convert to them. As long as you're recording uncompressed, your audio should stay uncompressed in iTunes. Unfortunately, YouTube compresses audio, but this is unavoidable. You definitely don't want to compress your audio more times than you need to. Otherwise good guide, and I hope that helps!

My Audacity is not set up quite the same way in the drop down tab. I don't have the buttons that say "left channel" or "right channel." How can I make sure it's correct?

This is a great video - HOWEVER, it seems the update of iTunes doesn't allow for the conversion to .mp3 - any other suggestions? Thanks so much, I'm really stuck at the moment

can't download audacity. its required to identify by the developer
