My grandpa used to say, “Your health is your wealth.” He lived 104 years. I’m grateful for my mental and physical health everyday 😊

Every time I watch Talking with Docs I become a little happier…because I do not suffer from most of the afflictions you guys talk about. But seriously, I turned 77 last week and spend lots of time with my grandchildren. That makes me as happy as I have ever been.

I don't know what makes people happy but wanting what i can't have definitely make me unhappy. Excellent advice to dwell on.

One of the best things I've, ever, heard was a rebuttal against the idea that money buys happiness which stated that 'while money can't bring you happiness neither can poverty.' Attitude, really, is everything. For myself, I've often found that happiness comes as a by-product from doing something I deem intrinsically worthwhile and fulfilling (and, yes, that does, sometimes, involve kale!).

Thanks, Docs!

Agree totally. I've been sick for awhile so have been unable to go out, see my granddaughter, and even do the upkeep in my home. This has made me extremely unhappy. I was a happy person before I was sick

Freedom makes me happy. Being able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

Gardening makes me happy. Watching seeds grow and eating things that I know are good for me. Including kale - lol. Best exercise and save money on a gym. Win Win. Also sharing harvest with friends and family.

Great point Docs! You know how we are jokingly keep saying, because of the pandemic where we had to stay 30 tim-bits apart from each other, we no long want people near us. I am going back to work in the office and have chats with my co-workers. All of a sudden I feel happy, driving home in the evening I think about my day and have a smile. All of a sudden, my wife and I have things to talk about other than tomorrow (tomorrow I do laundry, tomorrow I make the bed, etc.). Small things, like on Sunday we go see the grandkids and I will drive calmly on the 401. Then, when we get home, my wife thanked me for the wonderful day. And I thanked her for being with me, through thick and thin. That is what makes me happy.

Always love a correlation. As we all know, stabbings in parks go up as ice-cream sales increase! But, it's pretty obvious that social support and health are useful for happiness. Amazing that it took 85 years to work this out. Usefully funded research, I'd say.
