Not all about Nubs, just a few more things facinated to me.

1) Look at 22:49, the section of seat, the front foot of the stone seemed shaped as interlocking with lower stones. Rear foot also shaped to interlocking with each other. It looks like anti-earthquake and reserved settlement design, very modern thought, beautiful, neat output. Need to dig for more.

2) All seat stones were perfect aligned. They are carefully shaped to fit into different circle and could not be mixed with each other. It's possible that some adjustment stones (with nubs?), they could fit into to multi places, were designated so that error control would be much easier.

3) I'm really impressed with overall layout precision. Perfect leveling endure thousands years, it would be a nightmare for a modern architect to control settlement, they will have to use frame works, interlocking blocks and many more.

Thanks for your videos, always interested me.

Wherever you find nubs you find that the stones nearby are perfectly cut. I think this was some kind of ultrasonic cathodes. The used ones are faded or with cylindrical shapes while the less used ones are square shaped.

42:42 The large foreground blocks look like they are stacked on the bottom row of seats in the theater. 100% not their original locations and possibly obscuring nubs if they are concentrated on the lower levels. Another note, the square channels on the bottom of the large foreground blocks are almost always on the top of the blocks in their original positions. Some of those large blocks with rough top and bottom edges look like they had lips at one point that were broken off. The block above the "sword" block would fit perfectly if it was set to the right of the sword block, the height would match and you would have a lip on the top and bottom. I'm guessing it was part of one big frieze that was pushed into the amphitheater at some point. Could explain some of the damage to the "lip" of the seats.

23:00 seems to be a clear sign of a casting/molding technology. The nubs might be a residual product of this technique.

I was in Delphi some years ago. We went into the Amphitheatre, heard all about the Oracle but NOT ONE SINGLE WORD was mentioned about 'nubs.' I can only presume that this means every single guide there has NO CLUE what they are/were. To be honest, I did not even notice them myself! It is only in the last couple of years or so I even knew about them! This really is a classic 'hiding in plain sight' scenario.

That last picture is particulary interesting, shows it's the same culture who built the puffed out and the beveled styles

They are architectural indicators. The first video I watched of yours I r watched twice and I figured it out. The nubs are indicators developed from the quarrymen to tell the laborers how to build. Blueprints if you will. (my friend Audrey is credited with the blueprint connotation ) This is what we are looking at according to my 4 hours of studying your content. Good job sir!

This one's very big... At 49:55 there is an architectural indicator for the stairs that go up the amphitheater. If you remember from previous comments I mention skilled laborers. This project was abound with unskilled laborers. The need for direction is apparent.

OK when we all think construction we think 2x4, 4x4 etc I'm thinking thicker members .i think how do you keep large wooden components from moving around? It's easier to notch wood than stones. I propose that rather than lifting etc, it think it is for holding Wooden members in place...af the framework for more fitted pieces for boardwalks etc..lack of nubs maybe the cheap seats?in 23:11 the seats are shown as locked into place be the previous block and the ones to follow. Also the indented hammer marks makes it easier to seat the seat together with less material to bash away....any stone Mason would agree. Frame 26:04 also I think a wooden structure was built on the I think I can even make out where stairs would have been placed or set butted up against nubs... Again the weight of a wooden structure that tall would only need to rest against the building and larger members being weighted into place on the nubs..26:52 again for wooden bits to rest on.... I can't believe anyone would come away unscathed from trying to walk over a wash trench... Like the Roman coliseum I believe the dirt and stone floors in the amphitheatres were just bases....there may very well have been a wooden deck system in place for some or all official almost confident there is a grid system of nubs in place for initial substructure members.

I reckon the nubs were to make it easier to lay/pour the blocks to the next couple of levels up (like an ancient form of wooden scaffolding).

Or there may have been something stored on-situ, such as a specific ingredient in needed for the mix. I'm picturing a building site today, where builders will have a cement mixer in their work area so they can make the concrete and then use at your own convenience.

Could they be markings for reserved spaces, they seem to be clustered in the most prominent areas or the best seating zones. Where they are on the stairs they could indicate reservation of a whole tiers, in places where there are no seats it could be that the seating was made of wood and set infront of the nub and now no longer exists or was moved. It surely has to do with the amphitheater crowd or navigation around the amphitheater.

Fascinating and I hope you can solve this mystery soon.

Those nobs look like the bumps on an old music box mechanism.

What if the nubs are used for tuning resonances/ vibrations. A large percentage of these ruins are built with stone dense in quartz which is highly conductive.

NOT a "whacky connection". At 40:35 you are seeing a "step up" technique that allows for the next line of blocks to meet up on the same plane without having an awkward transition and an uneven application to the pattern.

Can't wait to see this on a big screen.
