Ethnic Tensions in Russia Are Boiling Over

Putin likes to claim how Russia is far more homogenous and united compared to Western countries. However, in reality Moscow is facing huge internal challenges as interethnic tensions rise due to Russia’s disproportionate use of minority groups as cannon fodder. The longer the war goes on, the more unsustainable it is and how risk of domestic conflict within Russia may determine what happens within Ukraine.

In this interview Pyotr Kurzin - host of the @theglobalgambit and expert in international relations and strategic studies discuss with Jason why Putin is so desperate to portray a very different view of Russia for the sake of legitimacy. Pyotr explains why Russia actually faces severe issues, especially its demographics and what North Korean troops means for its strategic position in Ukraine.

I have continued to listen to the contemporary Christian Ukrainian groups that I first spoke about over a week ago...
Faith that has been wrought through the fire of this war against them... If you listen, it cannot be denied. 🙏🕊️🔥💪🇺🇦♥️🇺🇸

I think the reason why the West and NATO haven't intervien in the war. Russian population need to know that a little country beat then to stop imperial growth has to stop. Russia stay Russia and get out of the Republics. Ukraine is Ukraine, Georgia is Georgia. Let the people decide how to govern themselves.

Russia has 21republics with many ethic minorities and separatism is an issue that hasn't gone away: Tuvans, Komi and Chuvash. And lets not forget the Chechens.

Great interview. It is only a matter of time until the Russian Federation falls apart.

Economically, I wonder what's on the shelves of the average grocery stores in small villages and towns?

I'm a great admirer of the first peoples of what is today Ukraine-- the Scythians. Maybe my favorite ancient civilization and the one that had the most widespread influence over literally half the world, when they were scattered between the hammer & anvil of the Roman empire and the invading Huns (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). Which means that many of the peoples that Russsia conquered east of the Urals, and who are now conscripted and sent against you-- are the descendants of indigenous Ukrainians. Although, many of them don't realize it, of course, with the very limited Ruzzified sort of "education" they have received... it would be a beautiful thing if they were able to re-discover their heritage and be welcomed home.

As I understand there are ethnic groups in Russia who would prefer independence, e.g. in the Caucasus or Sibiria. But I think that more things have to come together in order to trigger them off.

Ukraine might want to train up some officers and some special forces.

Post-war the parallels will be with the decolonisation of previously dominant European empires - French, British, Dutch, Belgian, Portuguese. The model is in place, but will the UN Gen Assembly be as assiduous in pursuing decolonisation as it was between 1950 to ~ 2000?

Prokovsk defences needs strengthening a lot, do not use USA style officers from NATO trained Ukraine officers because they have limited knowledge or understanding of European warfare all other nato officer's would be much more effective.

Humvee's could be adapted to be able to take skynet probably? I'm not sure if anti drones would be the best use for these or direct artillery?
