It’s true about old coins not necessarily being valuable.

There are some ancient Roman coins that you can buy for $10. There are also Roman coins that have sold for millions of dollars like the Brutus Eid Mar denarius & aureus or the aureus of Allectus.

Age means nothing.

Not yet. In the collect phase still. Waiting till, 1. Know they are going to stop penny production soon, has to be because of cost. 2. When this happens it will make prices jump. 3. It will change the rate that they increase in value. In addition they are going to change nickels into zinc. This will reduce production cost. Have a great day and Thank You

Another thing people believe are rare are $2 bills like from 1976. They are still worth $2. Just because you don't see them in circulation doesn't mean they are worth more than face value. Most circulated wheat cents and Jefferson nickels are only worth face value. Dateless buffalo nickels are worth maybe 6 cents.
