Samsung Refrigerator French Door Divider Spring Repair and Mullion Bush Fix!

**Is your Samsung Refrigerator French Door divider not working as it should? This video will show you how to replace the mullion spring and the "bush fix" to repair the broken mullion retaining sleeve. It has handy tips not seen in other videos throughout and offers closing thoughts (rationale) on why I chose to do this repair vs purchasing a new mullion or hiring an appliance service provider to make the repair.

Refrigerator Model: RF261BEAESR

**PLEASE NOTE: the mullion is plastic and can crack or break while attempting this repair. Take caution when releasing the clips. If you look at many of the "other" YouTube videos on this topic, they edit or don't show you how they open the mullion in any detail... Makes you wonder why they don't show this... right?

My bush fix is not meant to be permanent— however, it may last for a number of months or even years, which is all the original manufacturer's product lasted before being out of warranty. This bush fix hopefully will last longer than what I intend on keeping the refrigerator which has had a number of problems since purchasing in 2015. The most problematic issue includes it icing up behind the lower right crisper drawer, dripping water in the bottom cheese/meat tray, and icing up the ice cube maker rendering it useless. over the last 2 years, I've made four attempts to fix the problem all of which have fixed the symptoms for 10-14 days (including fixing the ice maker) but then it frosting/freezing up again. The refrigerator is simply not designed to function well.

Ma'am, thank you so much for this video. Your method of applying tape to keep the connector in place is genius. I'm a phone technician, and this repair reminded of the many spring replacements I had to do for the Motorola i860s and 70s, back when flip phones were still a thing 😅. Again, thank you so much for this, I was about to give Samsung the $200 for a new Mullion because I did not think I would be able to find a replacement spring.

A lady after my own heart. Using J B Weld! That product has literally saved me thousand$$$ when used on various (bush) repairs. I have the new springs, but this video takes it to the next level. The tape trick saves a lot of frustration. Thank you!

Yes, thank you Thank You! Saved us $122, the replacement cost for our model's mullion. The hardest part was getting the thing open, but definitely DIY-able. We only had to replace the spring. Found a set of two for $7.50 including tax. The second hardest part was finding the correct spring for our model.

After watching the video I was able to repair the flap door as shown. This was the only video that showed the JB Weld that was needed for the repair, and I had that ordered that product and had it on hand the day the spring and parts arrived. I'm impressed with the process of repairing a no longer made item which could have spelled the end for my Samsung.

Hi, thanks for the great fix and video. Wanted to put it out there that if the fridge is in warranty this is still a fine fix. Per federal law, opening a device cannot void the warranty unless it can be proved that you caused damage yourself. The item is clearly already broken, this is all fix and the fridge should still be able to receive further factory service.
Thanks again for the JB Weld fix, it didn't occur to me to be this handy on the fix.

This manly-man 'no woman is gonna tell me what to do' male chauvinist is grateful and humbled! What could have been a several hundred dollar service call or a $160 part - turned into a quick 5-minute fix with a $4.50 spring found on Amazon. Thank you so much!!

I wasn’t sure what it was going to take to fix this issue. Your video was spot on on how to replace the spring. Fortunately I only had to replace the spring. Thanks for the video.
