The whole point of Buddhism is to not become obsessed with anything. Let go of craving and grasping.

Buddhism already had a long history in China before the Cultural revolution. During the Communist revolution religions like Buddhism were discouraged and temples were burned. I suppose now the government is more lax on such matters. Many of the overseas Chinese communities who left China before the cultural revolution brought Chinese Buddhism and Taoist and Confucius beliefs with them.

Buddha didn't teach Buddhism, he taught Dhamma. He called his disciples 'Dhammiko'.
No matter whatever you might like to call yourself, you are a true follower of Buddha, only if you start walking on the Noble eightfold path, eventually understanding the four noble truths by experience. That's why modern Theravada tradition gives more importance to meditation and once you start getting benefit you naturally develop interest in studying theoretical part i.e pariyatti.

Chinese Buddhism or Han Buddhism has shaped Chinese culture in a wide variety of areas including art, politics, literature, philosophy, medicine, and material culture.

The translation of a large body of Indian Buddhist scriptures into Chinese and the inclusion of these translations together with works composed in China into a printed canon had far-reaching implications for the dissemination of Buddhism throughout the Chinese cultural sphere, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Chinese Buddhism is also marked by the interaction between Indian religions, Chinese religion, and Taoism.

They should send monks to Korea to help Buddhism there but to also help calm tensions that are there between the two countries lately.

It's took me so many years to be awaken as a part timer. The dharma is so difficult to understand clearly. No wonder it took Buddha's six years to be enlighten.
