People always ask if there's intelligent life in outer space...
should we not ask if there is intelligent life on Earth?

I would be really interested in a video about some of the exoplanets that are cool, but in no way earthlike.

This woman is busting a gut to entertain us and every other comment is having a go at her appearance.

I think this nicely sums up why human's are dick-heads. Great personality, really intelligent, hard-working, but look at her teeth! No wonder we haven't met intelligent life outside earth with this attitude they are probably going out of their way to avoid us.

Hey SciShow Space! This is addressed specifically to the people who make your graphics. In the astrophysics community, capital letters (such as A and B) are reserved for star names. For example, in the binary star system Sirius, the two stars are Sirius A and Sirius B.
When naming planets, lower case letters are used, starting with b. For example, the star Gliese 876 has four known planets in orbit. They are Gliese 876 b, Gliese 876 c, Gliese 876 d and Gliese 876 e, named in order of discovery.
Which is all a long explanation of saying, for example, that Keppler 442 is what we call the star, and Keppler 442b is the planet. In this instance, the "b" should remain uncapitalized.

It's not that this is a big deal. I just noticed that whoever put together that graphic didn't know this about naming conventions, and wanted to take the opportunity to educate. It also helps to explain why we keep calling planets "such and such-b".

Oh man, do you ever want to see these places so badly your chest constricts and you feel very real pain at knowing it probably, okay certainly, won't happen in your lifetime? I want the planets and the stars to be at my fingertips, but they may not even be within reach of the human race. Being raised on Star Trek gave me unrealistic hopes and dreams.

I want to visit these planets... There's just so much to explore outside this small world

I love how happy this woman is! I wish she taught me science courses in elementary and high school! She is so enthusiastic and it brings me joy to see someone so passionately excited about the mysteries of life beyond planet Earth :)

Trees, rainbows and Nintendo are delightful criteria.

There's a diagram of an ass slapping machine in the related videos and I'm loving it.

Awesome to know there are more Earth-like planets out there!
So Cool!

I like this girl, and the more the neanderthallic haters on this channel hate her, the more I like her.

I thought the Goldilocks zone was kind of irrelevant at this point because its speculated that life could form on almost any planet with liquid water. like Europa.

I haven't learned anything new from a Scishow video in a long time...

this question is a bit off topic but how come there are no large rocky planets? or small gas planets?

trees, rainbows, and Nintendo are what make the world go round. i feel sorry for those planets that dont have them.

A few very important things left out it should have :
1 a magnetosphere
2 speed of rotation ( not too fast like Jupiter or almost stopped like Venus )
3 a moon or moons for a stable rotation
4 cannot be tidally locked with parent sun
5 a large Jupiter sized planet in it's solar system to scoop up meteors and comets etc.
6 plate tectonics and volcanoes ( but not much or little of both )
7 atmosphere ( not too thick like Venus or almost none like Mars )

Now all we need is a wormhole in our solar system that connects us to those planets and we've got a real life adaptation of Interstellar.

Personally, I like this announcer.  She does her job in a professional manner, she has an air of approachability to her, and I know I'm not the only one to like listening to her talk about science.

Also, Caitlin, you're awesome. I love feeling how excited you are.
