Big Beefy Tommy Maddox scrambling, ankle-breaking himself, and fumbling for a fumble recovery TD is vintage Tommy Maddox

Every time Carr dropped back, there was heat. EVERY TIME. That line broke him. He had the tools to be a good QB but never had a chance.

During the Texans Inaugural season as well, beating a dominant franchise away. Very impressive!

I remember watching this game as a 13 year old thinking how crazy awesome this was. I mean how in the hell does a team punt 10 times and have 47 yards of total offense and win the game by three scores? This was Dom Capers and Vic Fangio at their best.

The Texans offense was that one person in the group project that did absolutely nothing but still gets as much credit as everyone else.

Texans: "We're gonna lose, we suck."
Steelers: "No we're gonna lose, we INSIST ON IT!"

This loss basically cost Pittsburgh home field in the AFC that year. The Raiders and Titans were 11-5 and the Steelers were 10-5-1.

Trying to imagine playing on defense for the Steelers. Force a punt on the first series and the next time you take the field you're losing by 14.

You might say Plaxico Burress really shot himself in the foot with his play in this game...

I always feel bad for Carr. His career was over the second the Texans drafted him.

The Bengals were 2-14 this season and even they beat this Houston team. 🤣

Thanx for posting this. I was actually thinking about this game the other day. I remember it from 2002. The Steelers also played one of the best overtime games ever earlier that season against the Falcons that ended up in a 34-34 tie. One of the best games I’ve ever watched.

As a guy named Glenn, Pittsburgh born but grew up in Houston, I found this funny.

say what you will but David Carr was one of the toughest SOBs to ever play QB. that kid got destroyed week in and week out for the Texans first 2 or 3 seasons. and he pretty much always got right back up.

I remember seeing this. That whole year in the AFC was kinda wild. Also, Aaron Glenn was a super underrated corner.

No one gonna shoutout Aaron Glenn with 2 pick 6’s? Super rare achievement
