This is one of the most helpful clips I have ever seen. It had not crossed my mind to diagnose the compressor leak the way I would diagnose a natural gas plumbing leak. The problem with my unit was a match for the one you fixed in the clip. You saved me lots and lots of time. Thanks so much.

I've been using metal fatigue for years and never knew what it was called.

Had the same exact leak on mine. Was able to leave the metal clamp on and then reinforced the hose clamp with a zip tie. Not the most elegant solution, but it’s leak free for now.

I hope one day you fix something I own, you're good at explaining all the steps. Editing is nice too.

Needed to fix the same leak on mine. Then later the dial fell apart. Used your video to fix it all. Thanks for taking the time to teach this to the masses.

Thoughts on repair. Should also check each port with soap. That razor cut. Sand it back out or you have have leak there. Been there. If belt was real old I would replace that too if going in this far. Yours is easier to disassemble than my little guy.
Like the segue near the beginning.

I got the same leak on brand spanking new one I’m sending this junk back I shouldn’t have to fix a brand new compressor for a 160 bucks porta cables gone down hill big time at least you got to use yours before it leaked

The hose on these often seems to go to some metal tubing. Mine was copper and has a loop in it. Every hose I put on it would slip off the tube side after the pressure and built up. The first time was a lot like this and I put the same clamp on the barb fitting. But after the other side slid off the copper tubing, (I think yours is aluminum, was hard to see that area, ), it kept coming off, .. used all kinds of clamps and eventually just put another barb in place of the copper tube, soon as I did that the hose stayed on but blew a hole through it before it got up to pressure.

Maybe I'm missing something but why did you have to take it apart if you were just going to cut the small hose in the front

Tom, just a suggestion that would make your videos a lot easier for me to follow. Perhaps you could slow down a bit, and give me a chance to catch up with you? It's obvious that you seem to know what you're doing, but teaching someone might take a bit more patience.

I've had mine less than 1 year and it leaks down in less than 20 minutes.

Porter-Cable air compressors are garbage!
I bought a used one that I was going to fix up and it is specifically designed not to be repaired!

It would cost a lot more to repair than it would to replace it with a new one!
So I donated it for parts only. Although the tank was probably the only thing that was reusable.

The so-called Piston was worn out and letting too much air blow by, the tank check valve was leaking really bad, could not adjust the permanently preset shut off switch that kept it running constantly, etc.

That was about 3 years ago. Fortunately I just picked up a 26 gallon husky air compressor for free off of Craigslist that only needed minor repairs and is running great.
