I agree SIM support is useful for tablets, as hotspots drain your phone's battery or its a hassle to carry a separate dongle/powerbank for personal use

I think tablets without LTE connectivity is good because it keeps price low and no one is going to keep both their phone and tablet number recharged moreover we can always use hotspot
