This is a sequal. Don't fall for the "remake" thing. Watch the old series first if you want to understand it well. Otherwise, you will miss half the fun.

It is really, really good. It contrasts with the very first opening in terms of emotions it brings, because the setting is quite different. The first season of Higurashi served to set the stage up, and thus, the primary feeling we had was uneasiness, eeriness, with moments of fear and confusion. This seems to be different with Gou, since we already know what Higurashi feels like, and what its universe and characters are. So, in this sense, this OP really fits well, on top of being a banger.

This is arguably my favorite Higurashi OP, right next to the very first Higurashi OP. The animated opening on the anime makes it even more sinister, I love it. I just finished the new season of Higurashi and it was outstanding, it blew me away. 10/10 get yer butt out there and start from the beginning if you've never watched Higurashi. Skip the OVA's (which is called Rei) and just watched the first two seasons and then watch Gou which is a brand new third season. Animation is top notch, music is top notch, story is top notch. Just be patient because Higurashi has a habit of unleashing morbidly pleasant surprises, but it's well worth it in the end. Easily one of my favorite anime of all time, and that's coming from someone who is picky with his horror taste, of which Higurashi is the ultimate horror in my honest opinion.

I was looking up Asaka recently because she sings the openings for both seasons of Laid-Back Camp and now I find out she also sings the Higurashi Gou opening???? I've been watching both shows back to back and never even Girl has such range!!!!
