This opening it's brilliant in all the right ways.

The definition of an Analogy is a comparison between two elements of some kind for means of poiting similarities between them, quite literally putting Rika and Satoko side to side.

The most symbolic scene is definitely Rika closing her eyes as Satoko open hers. In painting and other types of art, a character closing their eyes symbolizes death, or more specifically the end of the character. On the other hand, Satoko opening her eyes symbolizes the beginning of her journey/reincarnation/brand new start, as she becomes a time looper, just like Rika.

The other most symbolic scene is Satoko running towards Rika. She runs for a while, and even the reflection on the water shows her younger self running to, alluding Satoko had always been chasing after Rika. But not the Rika she knows, she chases a figure that looks like Rika facing away from her, a Rika that already had moved on from Hinamizawa.

The other cool details is the white sketched lines thorough the opening. Now this is a bit of stretch, but it could allude to a "logic error" taking place within the narrative, as they literally struggle to keep themselves within the outline of the characters.

This is probably my favorite opening of the series, and the song is a banger to top it off. Those single piano keys? chef kiss

I never noticed how the desk are organized could symbolize both of the characters, Satoko side is all organized showing that her plan are coming together with no complications while Rikas side is in a cluster with her having no idea what’s stoping her now, so she is all over the place.
