Ellen attempts to use each episode to encourage kindness, but several controversies threatened to bring this image down. She came out as gay in 1997 but has been linked with allegedly homophobic figures. She’s also made regrettable social media posts and is poorly received by other members of Hollywood like Kathy Griffith, Corrine Olympios, and Dakota Johnson.

The most recent allegations against Ellen were related to the way she treated her staff on her talk show. Claims of a toxic work environment began as rumors in 2017 and grew into a full-on investigation this year.

The allegations may be the reason behind a massive decrease in ratings for The Ellen Show this year. It lost thousands of viewers, a major blow for TV producers who base a show’s value on how many eyes are watching it.

Ellen insists that the allegations aren’t the only reasons she’s leaving the show. She was hurt by them and apologized to any employees who were hurt but feels the claims may have been orchestrated.
Ellen also claims that she’d been considering leaving for years and felt that now was the right time. She’ll miss her guests and fans but wants to find more fulfilling creative pursuits. Only time will tell if her former adoring public allows her to.

When she started doing game competitions on her talk show, it became readily apparent that she's sadistic. When she got a separate game show, her evilness was blatantly obvious. Cruelty doesn't belong in game shows or family TV.

I couldn't careless about someone's race, religion or sensuality but what I do NOT RESPECT is bullying in the work place. Your colleagues work extremely hard for you, they can not answer back because they will loose their job and it will appear on a future reference. But for some the silent anger will build up and they end up taking it out on their love ones.

I’m not homophobic and even have a best friend that’s like a brother to me, and he happens to be gay. I have no respect for Ellen because of the way she treats her coworkers and guests. Net worth of $500 million? Not like she needs to work. Time maybe for her to rest on her questionable laurels. Never watched anyway except via Youtube....those of us working full time are usually not at our leisure during her time slot.
