Athena Strand full update: Mother shares gift FedEx driver delivered

Maitlyn Gandy, Athena Strand's mother, shared an update on her daughter's case, including the gift delivered by the suspect. Here's the full press conference.

Mother of Athena, please do not be sorry for your grief expressed. I am not sorry for my tears and for the pain in my heart for you and the rest of your family. To me and many others, you are beyond brave and strong for speaking to us on behalf of Athena. I and many of us are so very sorry for your loss.

How horrible it was her own present that came with a monster. My four year old disappeared for two hours back in the 80's. That was the worst two hours of my life. She was found sleeping inside a rolled up carpet. I can't imagine suffering that two hours for a lifetime. In the 70's I had a 9 year old neighbor who was murdered by a man that lived in our appartment complex. She was the most trusting lovable little girl ever. It's so hard to understand why.

My prayers go out to the Strand family. This is a tragedy, but you can't blame FedEx. Tanner had no criminal record. No one could have known he was capable of this short of psychic ability. The person who sent this gift for Athena will blame themselves for the rest of their life. My prayers go out to you as well! It isn't your fault that a monster delivered the package.
