We get many questions about our full time world travel, so we have decided to add a “How To” series to our channel to answer those questions and many more. Today, we share 30 things to do BEFORE traveling abroad to help with travel planning.

We think a travel abroad checklist can be very helpful when traveling internationally. There are many things you need to know before traveling abroad and we try to provide a concise summary of things we think are important in travel planning and preparation.

In our travel checklist, we discuss things like digital notebooks, going paperless, using VPN’s, travel apps and other travel tips. We also discuss important things regarding passports, visas, vaccinations and other important items to do before you travel abroad.

Additionally we talk about things you should do to make sure everything at home is taken care of as you travel the world. So whether you are already enjoying retirement, about to retire or just love to travel, we hope something on this list helps make your next travel abroad adventure a success.

If you are enjoying our “how to” series, please consider checking out our weekly world travel vlog.

We hope you enjoy the start of our 9-month European adventure and also go back and check out our adventures in Central America and seeing all 50 states during our Airstream journey across America.

Please join us for a 10-year journey and world travel vlog. We wanted to retire early and see the world and film our adventures in 4k video. Perhaps our world travel will give some ideas on what to do after retirement and where to travel in 2022. We have no home just travel and want to show you different perspectives as we show you where to visit in 2022 and give you our experiences as we travel the world. This is our retirement and we want to share it with you.

We hope you will subscribe, join us on our adventure, give us some likes and send us comments and suggestions. It means so much. Thank you and hope everyone has a wonderful travel 2022.

ABOUT US:

As the retirement travelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become travel vloggers and start a YouTube channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey is fun and exciting to us.

In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.

In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a suitcase and a small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next ten years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

We hope you enjoy the journey with us. Drop us a note in the comments and be sure to hit subscribe! 🗺 🎥 🌮

Thank you for so many really good ideas. One thought that. comes to mind as a non American. Getting a US entry visa is time-consuming for most visitors, while going through US customs is often problematic if not a little intimidating.

I always sit down with a notebook when watching! I pause it and write, pause and write! So much useful information. Thank you!!!

One thing that may be useful (and that hopefully we never need to use) is to find out how to contact emergency responders in the country where you currently are.

Thanks for your excellent suggestions. One added idea: Purchase a phrase book that contains basic phrases in the country you plan to visit. People in other parts of the world do not necessarily speak English, especially if you are going outside of major urban centres. Ultimately, it does not matter if you pronounce the words, just point to the English and let the person read the translation in their language.
These days folks often use google translate or online dictionaries. That can lead to some humourous misunderstandings. A phrase book is more reliable than trying to sting words together that may have unrelated meanings in a second language.

Excellent job you two! Not sure if I heard you mention to notify your bank and credit card company ahead of time of what countries you will be visiting so they won’t think your cards have been compromised! Love the cloud file tip! Very helpful video!!! ~Cara 😊

GREAT LIST! I like that you added not just what by why and how. We have done many of these things, but not all.... We will be updating our habits. Thank you

Cell phone e-sim cards make it so easy! No more replacing tiny SIM cards. Requires a fairly recent phone but it’s worth it. I have an iPhone XR.

Great list you two! On your electronic list (Ive done list for several euro trips) also a good idea to keep track of credit/debit card info and the emergency 800# to the bank in case of loss or theft…

Appreciate the info on storing papers online. I've been hesitant to make that leap. You even have social security cards scanned in!! Even with a house, living in the US, storing all online has value. Where I live, coastal earthquake and tsunami a danger. Elsewhere, floods and wildfires make a secure location for documents a necessity. In case of an entire wipe-out, online the only "safe" haven, unless one has presence of mind to grab the E-bag on the run with current list of all account numbers!

Very informative video. I took notes, on my iPad, and stored them on a cloud.

You should add Google Voice to the list. When traveling abroad long term we moved our phone number to Google Voice so we could continue to deal with 2FA for our banks etc without having to maintain a US mobile plan.
