This video is all about the 1958-D Penny. Today we are going to be learning the ins and outs of this coin, including its history and the context in which the coin was minted in, its appeal to collectors, and the various values it may have depending on its condition. We are also going to be covering the 1958-D Penny mint errors and varieties - if there is not a section for one of them, that means that there are none known. Hopefully this is a good introduction to this awesome coin, and best of luck finding all of the valuable errors, varieties, and highly-graded coins in addition to learning the sweet history behind it. Always keep an eye out for good coins, whether they are worth tons of money and rare, or just have great eye appeal and a story to them! This video is made as part of a greater educational series on every date, denomination, and mint mark in U.S. coinage.

Awesome video Christian! How do you educate yourself on these separate coins? What resources do you find that are the most valuable to learn from?

Christian and I are close friends. We have pizza and discuss coins. We've fondled each other once but that's as far as it got. ❤

I have 2 rolls from the RK Stimpler collection. 1955 P and 1958 D. I'm a little apprehensive to open them. The 1955 is the year of the infamous DDO. They were primarily distributed in Boston and surrounding areas and the RK collection is from Boston. Is it more valuable to keep it intact or should I take the chance? Some gems and a triple S error have come out of some of these rolls. Your thoughts?

I have a 1958D penny that weighs 3.50 grams and it sticks to a magnet. It llooks gold plated and the sides are rolled up and they are higher than the thickness of the coin. Can you tell me what planchet it is on? I think we were making coins for Costa Rica and cuba at the time.

I just found a likely to be ms66 maybe higher 1958 D with the reverse showing through on the obverse, plus some heavy doubling or it was repunched over a failed, offset original die. It gets better. There are also, faint, but numerous letters or fractions of words all over the obverse, I can't tell if they're from multiple strikes from the same die shifting around or if some are from a different coin being stuck on the anvil or die.. Got any advice on where and how a piece like this one should be sent for a safe verification of all the errors and graded? It's my coolest and most unique find so far..

Love your videos. Newer subscriber here!

I just found two 1958 D pennies with a die mark on the 1 on the 1958. look like a little dot in the upper right in between the 1 and the 9. Can't find any info online about it, or I'm just not looking hard enough. Hope someone reads this and knows something. I have two of them so I'm pretty sure it's not a rando, but a known one already.

The edges are silver colored. I can send you a picture if you like. It has the MM error where the MM ALMOST TOUCHES THE 9 IN THE DATE. AND IS ALSO A DDO AND DDR.

So if you have a dd on the reverse that on pluribus unum clear doubling what would that be worth if the coin is uncirculated???

Do you notice what I notice? Look at the O in the ONE. I have 8 of them, and all have it in various degrees.

Would you trust a well known local coin shop to send your expensive coins to get graded or how do you go the safe way
