He even said that the choice was forced on him...or taken away, rather. This is such a heartbreaking story.

This would make a great movie. Love story, political drama and sports.

I wouldn't call the story incredible, but sad and horrible

There's a bigger physical difference between Heidi the attractive, feminine girl in that picture (showing her standing next to another woman) and Heidi at the 1986 European Championships, than there is between doped-up masculine Heidi and the man Andreas she then became.

It's great that it worked out for them. It's awful what was done to them.

At around 2:20 the translation of Andreas Krüger is wrong (ok, that he said that he toke the pills because he trusted the trainers and he was never informed about where the pills where for - he was told of "vitamins", that's right. But everything else is just wrong.) ... I have not seen the film right to the end right know. Perhaps there are further wrong translations later, too.

She was turned onto elite sports like many young girls are turned onto turning tricks. 1. Lie about drugging her. 2. Keep her doped up to perform through the pain and abuse. 3. Keep her chasing the money until she is worn-out/burned out.

Heidi literally looks like my brother-in-law when he was competing. And he too is German descended.

That's what they want to do to our kids in the name of compassion. Let this be a warning to all the parents out there contemplating on putting their kids on hormones.

Andreas deserves to be happy and it was horrific what his coaches did to him. Oddly enough--with all his masculinization--I still see small remnants of the woman in him.

Thats mindblowing. To do that to someone without consent is utterly mindblowing

Warum gibt es über ihn/sie keine Doku auf deutsch?
Ich meine uns geht das wohl am meisten an!

Ironic that it's TRANS world sport covering this story. Get it?

LOL. The "footage from Eastern Germany" is footage from modern Germany, often the western part, with a grain and defect filter applied. Cannot take anything after that serious.

Heartbreaking... I'm glad now they test hormone levels and dopping in sport people, clearly her abilities were enhanced and she was way above women's category in which she was competing at the time when she was in a forced transition. Hope he found peace now and is content with his life!
